Still Me - Jojo Moyes

Having only watched ‘Me Before You’ and not having read the previous two books, I was going in pretty oblivious into what ‘Still Me’ would be like to read. Luckily the novel was really easy to read from start to finish. It didn’t matter that I didn’t know the previous story lines, the book stands well in its own right. From looking at other people’s opinion on ‘Still Me’, I’m glad in a way that I hadn’t read ‘Me Before You’ as by the sounds of it, it is a hard book to live up to and therefore might have tainted my enjoyment of this book.

The story follows Louisa Clark who moves to New York to start a new life being the assistant and companion of a wealthy, young and complicated socialite Agnes. With her boyfriend Sam thousands of miles away in England and the mountains of secrets Louisa discovers about her employee, this book is funny, romantic and entertaining. I did feel like some of the storylines, especially Louisa’s relationship with Agnes went unresolved and lacked attention. But on the whole, I liked the characters, the sub plots and the ending.

This is a simple novel, delving into friendships, heartbreak, family feuds and new adventures. It wasn’t the best book I’ve ever read but equally it was a poignant and enjoyable read.
